|Phil's Sailing Software Page|
Sailing has been my main hobby for many years. I have sailed many different types of boats from little Optimists to a 60' ex-Ocean Racer. In the early 1980's I was fortunate enough to do two Atlantic crossings on board 'Crusade'. Earlier in her career when owned by Max Aitkin (Lord Beaverbrook) was in the first 3 boats to finish in the famous Sydney-Hobart race. This was the same year (1969) as Ted Heath took the handicap win with Morning Cloud. Nowadays most of my sailing is on my own Corby 29 HenceForth and the occasional invitation to other boats at Port Edgar and on the West Coast of Scotland.
Over the years I have been involved in numerous sailing regattas. Sometimes as a competitor but nearly as often as part of the organising team. For over 20 years I have been involved with helping do the results for the Scottish Series Regatta (run by Clyde Cruising Club).
Through these events I have developed various software programs to calculate results, and also to display the results quickly and easily on a web site. The latter software has been reused by other clubs to display their results on-line. This software allows the results to be calculated as a simple spreadsheet, and the results to be copied and pasted into a Web Browser Form and the results to be immediately posted on the web site. The format of the reports can be configured to match the club's preferred style as the following sites will show. Please contact me at the address below know if you think your club would like to make use of this facility.
Clyde Cruising Club
For the biggest event of the year I team up with together with Strathclyde Raynet to provided the results service for the Scottish Series held at Tarbert on Loch Fyne each year and organised by Clyde Cruising Club. This is the second largest annual sailing event in the UK after Cowes week. An archive of results can be found here. Results, crew finder and entrant on this year's event, Brewin Dolphin Scottish Series 2009 is available. General details are available at the CCC site.
Port Edgar Yacht Club
This is where I currently sail my boat HenceForth. Located almost under the Forth Bridges Port Edgar Yacht Club offers both dinghy and keelboat sailing.
Dalgety Bay Sailing Club
Results for various races are series are available. The club's own web site can be found here.
The race computer instructions tell you how to use the computer to run the racing.
Clyde Yacht Clubs' Association
The Clyde Yacht Clubs' Association run a series of regattas through the season. I only help with one or two so this is not a full list of their results.
